One Truth

The truth is that there can only be one truth.  Although every religious group feels that theirs is the only truth, I believe it is obvious that no one group or religion has the whole truth.  The first reason for this claim is that no religious group that I have ever researched has a set of beliefs that comes close to making sense under scrutiny.  Secondly, and more importantly, is the fact that there are an infinite number of possibilities which have yet to be imagined or explored. That is our mission, to constantly strive for the answers while realizing that we will never know for sure. We can only do that if we communicate, love each other despite our differences, and work towards the one true answer together rather than digging in our heels in defending old beliefs.

I know that faith means believing in something that you can’t see or prove.  However, if it makes no sense in the face of that which you can prove, then it just isn’t believable. There is a big difference between having faith in something that makes sense and helps us make sense of our universe, versus having faith in an archaic dogma from an ancient religion that makes absolutely no sense to a modern, educated human being.  Let’s bring religion into the 21st century!  Too many people are just going through the motions of religion.  We can bring some relevance to modern religion while bonding over shared truths.

In order to logically approach the truth, we must first overcome a major obstacle: the human ego.  We, as human beings, seem to think that all of creation and the infinite universe revolves around us.  While that may be true, it is probably not.  Human beings are just a small blip on the radar of infinite time and space.  Why then should we conclude that everything that has ever happened or been created by God was for us or about us only?  Has God created us in his image?  It is more likely we have created God in our image. Most of the world’s religions have prophets or “sons of God” who are humans through whom God has spoken.  Even so, there can only be one God the creator.  Let us unite around that one truth.  By uniting over our shared truths rather than fighting over perceived differences, we will see that we are all brothers and sisters and children of one God.
